Dr. Chelsea Haramia is a philosopher and ethicist specializing in astrobiology ethics, SETI ethics, technology ethics, and environmental ethics. She earned a PhD in Philosophy and a graduate certificate in Gender and Women’s Studies from the University of Colorado, Boulder. She has served as Associate Professor of Philosophy in the US, and she is currently in Germany serving as Senior Research Fellow for the Desirable AI project at the Center for Science and Thought at the University of Bonn. She is the author of numerous journal articles and book chapters on the ethics of space exploration, with distinct contributions to debates on the ethics of SETI and METI. She is a Science Advisory Board member of the SETI Institute, an Advisory Board member of the Cosmic Footprint Society, and an international affiliate of the St. Andrews SETI Post-Detection Hub. She is also co-editor of the open-access journal 1000-Word Philosophy, and, in her free time, she hosts a podcast (Story Phi) about storytellers, story lovers, and philosophy.
